After five months, I finally bit the bullet and went to get a haircut after work. I haven’t put off cutting my hair because I didn’t need a haircut, but mainly because my stylist is on maternity leave until June and I was hoping I could somehow wait until she came back to the salon. I knew it was going to be a futile attempt, but I just didn’t want to find another stylist. I’ve had some bad experiences... once when I was desperate for a trim, I went to see a stylist at a popular salon and she butchered my hair. I was actually cringing to get away from her scissors! And once, I accompanied my younger sister to get her hair cut and I could actually see the stylist lopping off more and more in a pathetic attempt to even out the ends.
Luckily, this stylist was wonderful. She did a great job and didn’t seem to mind that I prefer to not be super talkative while in the salon chair. Not that I don’t talk because I want her to concentrate on my hair and not on the conversation (well... that is a slight factor), but because I love being able to just relax while someone is cutting, blow drying, and styling my hair.
Not sure if I’ll continue to see her until my stylist returns... I still have yet to see how my hair behaves when I attempt to style this cut myself, but I do love that she listened and didn’t chop off more than I wanted to part with and that this salon is only three minutes from my office.
