Hb_promo

Tucked into the pages of this week's issue of Newsweek was this clever promotional piece for Häagen-Dazs. The sheet is filled with bee-friendly wildflower seeds to plant and provide food to feed the honey bees and keep them buzzing.

There is also a beautifully-designed website at helpthehoneybees.com to learn more about the plight of the honey bees... you can even design and send your own animated honey bee. Isn’t mine cute?

I also want to try the new Vanilla Honey Bee ice cream made from vanilla from Madagascar and honey from the clover fields of North and South Dakota. Anything to help save the honey bees and keep them pollinating!

Haircut

After five months, I finally bit the bullet and went to get a haircut after work. I haven’t put off cutting my hair because I didn’t need a haircut, but mainly because my stylist is on maternity leave until June and I was hoping I could somehow wait until she came back to the salon. I knew it was going to be a futile attempt, but I just didn’t want to find another stylist. I’ve had some bad experiences... once when I was desperate for a trim, I went to see a stylist at a popular salon and she butchered my hair. I was actually cringing to get away from her scissors! And once, I accompanied my younger sister to get her hair cut and I could actually see the stylist lopping off more and more in a pathetic attempt to even out the ends.

Luckily, this stylist was wonderful. She did a great job and didn’t seem to mind that I prefer to not be super talkative while in the salon chair. Not that I don’t talk because I want her to concentrate on my hair and not on the conversation (well... that is a slight factor), but because I love being able to just relax while someone is cutting, blow drying, and styling my hair.

Not sure if I’ll continue to see her until my stylist returns... I still have yet to see how my hair behaves when I attempt to style this cut myself, but I do love that she listened and didn’t chop off more than I wanted to part with and that this salon is only three minutes from my office.

West_seattle_bowl

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend! I spent Easter Sunday not participating in traditional Easter events, but bowling with friends at West Seattle Bowl and having an early dinner at a nearby Japanese restaurant. Bowling was so much fun, even though I am completely horrible at it. I keep hoping that practice will make perfect, but it hasn’t happened so far!!

Computer_mouse Spent last night setting up our brand new computer system... installing software, bookmarking favorites, and hooking up peripherals. And as my husband pointed out to me this morning, we now have four computers for our household of two!

Ppc_6700 While I was upgrading my system software for my pocket pc phone, I had a sinking feeling that I should have backed up my files before starting the upgrade. And of course once the upgrade was complete, I realized that I had lost all my data… including contact information for friends and family. Sigh… I am off to try to recover and rebuild my files…

Dvd_playerGrrr! It is so frustrating, not to mention disappointing, when you are watching a movie on DVD and the disc is scratched or is otherwise unplayable… especially when you are already halfway through the movie. Now I am waiting for Blockbuster Online to mail me a replacement DVD. I should have just hopped in the car and drove to Blockbuster to exchange the movie since I have the Total Access Premium plan with unlimited in-store movie exchanges. Grrrr! Grrrr!
