Headed over to Cost Plus World Market today to do a little shopping. While there, I spotted this yummy smelling White Tea Stacked Vase Potpourri. I also picked up this pandan magazine basket in natural. I love shopping for household goodies!

I am constantly purchasing bottled water because the water from the tap in my home smells a little chlorinated to me. Rather than continuing to spend money on the bottled stuff and unnecessarily adding to my carbon footprint, I finally bought a PUR faucet filter for our kitchen. Now the water from the tap tastes and smells so much better. No more sending money down the drain on bottles of water.

After a leisurely breakfast out with my husband and a quick trip to Linens 'n Things for supplies, I spent the day tackling one of the items on my spring cleaning checklist... the master bathroom. I scrubbed everything spotless (except the shower that my husband tackled!) and reorganized all the cabinets and drawers along with tossing out old cosmetics and household cleaning products. One more item to check off my spring cleaning list!

One of my weekend projects is scanning the covers of all my Japanese craft books. These images filed along with information for each book will be used to create a better inventory of my craft book library... something I have been wanting to accomplish.

I’ll also be sharing this information under “Craft Books” in the right column of my blog. Please let me know if you have any questions about any of the books in my library. I'll also add more books as I complete my scanning project, along with any new purchases I make along the way!

With spring season just around the corner, I am already thinking about projects around the house that I’d like to get accomplished. One of these projects is painting some of the rooms in my house... in particular, I’d like to paint one of the walls in my dining room as an accent wall. With that in mind, I spent today playing around on the Benjamin Moore site, thumbing through design magazines for inspiration, and Photoshopping digital photos of my dining room for color scheme ideas. I’m also looking into ordering paint samples to paint test swatches on the wall to see how the color appears in different light. Any recommendations on the brand of interior paint to consider or any other tips for interior painting would be most appreciated!

Hau'oli Makahiki Hou!!

Once again, we are without electricity at home due to the severe wind storms last night. (I am having terrible flashbacks to last year's winter storm that left us without power for almost a week.) Hopefully Puget Sound Energy is able to restore our service soon since we have friends coming to visit us from Hawaii tonight!

Update: We only ended up without power for approximately nine hours. Whew!

Wow! Where did the month of September go? I was just thinking about how sad I was that summer was ending and autumn was just around the corner... and now it's almost October!

I've been such a lazy blogger... I've been spending more time at the office than at home and once I do get home, the last thing I want to go is get back on the computer. I am going to try and make more of an effort to check in more frequently and get caught up on all my blog reads. I'm also excited to be volunteering at Crafting Japanese... one of my favorite crafting resources.

I'm also knitting more now that the days are getting colder. My knitting group has been meeting on a regular basis and I find myself knitting once I get home from the office. Now that I am less anxious about making mistakes, I am finding that knitting is relaxing and less stressful. I'll have to post some of my recent projects soon... I have been knitting hats for my niece and have just started learning to cable. It's not as difficult as I thought it would be, but we'll see how I feel once I finish this project!

Happy birthday to my little sister... who isn't so little anymore!!
