Sewing

One of my favorite places to visit when I head down to Portland is Fabric Depot. I can spend hours wandering up and down the aisles of this 73,000-square-foot store. While I am able to sew simple items, my mom is an excellent seamstress and loves to sew for me. I always keep a list of yardage information on hand so I can easily purchase fabric to send home to Hawaii for my mom to sew into ensembles for me. On this trip, I purchased cotton fabrics and hand-dyed batik prints to sew into spring tops. I can’t wait to receive a package back from my mom to see how they turned out!

Canon_pixma_mx850

I’ve been without a scanner since I gave my flatbed scanner to my Dad. I recently ordered the new Canon PIXMA MX850 all-in-one printer with fax, auto duplex print, copy, and scan capabilities. I have been waiting for this model to be released and it should finally arrive via FedEx on Monday. I’ll be waiting by the door for my FedEx delivery since I already have projects I want to get started on once this printer arrives!

Kitchenaid_citrus_juicer

While we were in Portland, I finally purchased a KitchenAid citrus juicer attachment for my stand mixer. I have wanted one for a while now, but kept forgetting to pick one up while out shopping. Now I just need to remember to buy some oranges so I can enjoy fresh-squeezed orange juice. Yum!

Keanu_nap

It was hard being back in the office today after a long weekend of play. Apparently Keanu didn’t get much sleep over the weekend either, since he spent a good part of the day napping in the new bed we bought him in Portland. Lucky kitten!

Portland_oregon

Just returned from a long weekend road trip to Portland. It was a wonderful and much needed mini vacation filled with adventure, good eats, and lots of spring shopping. Will post more about our getaway soon.

I am looking forward to tomorrow morning when we will bring Keanu home from the boarding facilities at our veterinarian’s office. This was our first time away since we adopted him in December and I am curious to see how he adapted to being away from us. He has become such a part of our family that the house just doesn’t seem the same without him.

Computer_mouse Spent last night setting up our brand new computer system... installing software, bookmarking favorites, and hooking up peripherals. And as my husband pointed out to me this morning, we now have four computers for our household of two!

Baked_brie Probably not the healthiest dinner... but when I went to Trader Joe’s after work today they were offering samples of Cantaré baked brie en croute. The warm cheese wrapped in the baked brioche dough was such a delicious treat after a long day at the office that we decided to pick one up for dinner. We brought home the cranberry, apricot, almond, and brandy baked version, but there were so many other yummy flavor varieties that I can’t wait to try.

Amigurumi Last night while I was searching for a birthday present for a co-worker, I spotted the Amigurumi! Super Happy Crochet Cute book by Elisabeth A. Doherty. I have a ton of amigurumi and crochet books from Japan, but I couldn’€™t resist adding this to my collection. I am still quite a newbie crocheter and the patterns in the book looked easy enough for me to follow. I can’€™t wait to get started!
